Demonology - Followers of the Lost Empty Demonology - Followers of the Lost

Here will be listed the various types of Demons and Lost that are currently documented in scriptures found within Ancient Ruins. Demons are Ancients who followed the Lost, corrupted and deformed by centuries of imprisonment in the Banished Realm. They can be summoned by certain ritual spells to carry out the whims of the summoners.

Demon traits and "type" differ according to the Lost they follow. Otherwise, they share common ideals such as the Lost being their masters and magic being an abomination against their nature.

Demons can permanently pass into the world through different means. Some require the sacrifice of many, others merely need to "consume" a single person. However, their capability to do so is very limited, so they are always on the lookout for opportunities to grasp at. There have been very few cases of it occurring in the world so far, but none of them are well known at all. Since the demons that have passed into the world have yet to do anything drastic, the issue is left alone.

Unknown the Lost of Darkness

Records of this Lost only exist in ruins found in the far South. Due to the nature of the Southern barrens, investigations have been somewhat scarce. What is known is that when magic came into being, this Lost threatened to wrap the world in permanent darkness. It was sealed inside a crystal formation by a Primordial and lies dormant somewhere in the frozen South.

Demons of darkness are worthy representations of their master. They are formless entities composed of shadowy darkness, with unparalleled mastery over darkness manipulation. As one would expect, they are weak to any form of light. However, if there is more darkness than light, their darkness is capable of absorbing light as well. Otherwise, their utility is very limited, so they are usually an unwelcome result of summoning rituals.

Unknown the Lost of Obsidian

One of the most mysterious Lost, mostly due to the fact that it was discovered by the Vampire race and their refusal to share details makes investigation impossible. All that is known is that a shard of the Lost was found in a volcanic crater and stored away. The place where it was held, Hasturr, has since been razed. The fate of the shard is unknown.

There are no records of Demons under this Lost.

Vildragrotten the Lost of Vengeance

A better known Lost, Vildragrotten is one that represents Vengeance. A well-preserved scripture found in a ruin near Ivellea details much about this Lost, including his name. Apparently he was a very proud Ancient and was the inventor of the concept of "dueling". However, the turbulent times of magic appearing caused his mentality to take a dip and his loved one betrayed him to accept fate. Rather than settle down and die, he and his followers butchered innocent members of lesser races in order to fulfill his own sense of revenge against the traitor that was his love. The void was never filled, however, and his sense was lost even more to the darker emotions. Eventually he was laid to rest by his lover sacrificing herself to seal him within his own blade. The blade itself is believed to still lie in an undiscovered ruin somewhere, and it is said one who would wield it would always seek vengeance against those who do wrong against them while offering great power. Vildragrotten is a given name; his original name is unknown.

Demons of Vildragrotten are known as "Azhkler", or simply "Duelists". They are demons that take form according to the feelings of the one who summons them, and such forms are usually grand suits of heavy armor that cover the entire form, obscuring any indication of what lies underneath. They also tend to brandish outrageous weapons and will serve a master willingly until they have fulfilled their vengeance. Accordingly, Duelists can only come to those who seek revenge against others.

Duelists also exert an aura of dominance when they are in battle, which is able to crush the will of those who aren't used to combat. Also, once they name one for a duel, they will never back down until a victor is named. Death is the only defeat for Duelists.

Unknown the Lost of Temptation

A "popular" Lost among those who practice demonology, this Lost is mostly unknown except for the main facts. It is a genderless entity that once embodied the passions and desires of the Ancients, as well as the lesser races during their time. However, the presence of magic was a presence that did not entice it one bit. In fact, it believed that magic would undo all passion and delight in the world, so the Lost became obsessed with preserving such idioms. Eventually it boiled down to debauchery and raw desire prevailing over all else, and it was eventually sealed away by the Primordial of Temperance. What is unique about this Lost is that its form was separated into many pieces and scattered across the land. While this mostly ensured its dormant state for eternities to come, it also indirectly allowed its influence to have a wide if not weak grip on the world.

The demons of this Lost are "Verlezh". In present dialect, they can be associated into two categories: Succubi and Incubi. One should already know what kind of forms these demons take on. They are lusty demons that will always ask for a form of payment upon being summoned (usually in the form of precious items or sexual activities). However, once payment is fulfilled, they can be exceptional servants. They are masters of deception and disguise, and can easily integrate into crowds of people with none being the wiser.

The only differences between Succubi and Incubi are the genders of the forms they take, and their attitudes. Succubi tend to be the more deceptive and aggressive demons, while Incubi are more collected and patient, but no less devious. Verlezh are genderless otherwise; the former classifications apply only to personalities and the forms they develop when they enter the world. The form usually develops based on the desires and preferences of the summoner, whether they like it or not.

These demons are the most common occurrence of summoners falling victim to what they summon. Verlezh often catch their masters off-guard and end up consuming them to take up a permanent place in the world. However, because a lot of their existence is based on emotions, their attitudes often end up melding with that of who they consume. In some cases, this can erase their memories and make them forget they are a demon at all. In other cases, it simply makes them content with the world as is and leads them to live on normally. Because of this, they are looked down upon by fellow demons.

Note: Yes, there are Verlezh that have taken forms based on other non-human races. No, I don't have images, you sickos.

The Lost of Forests

Not much is known, other than this Lost was one who revered nature, especially that found within forests across the world. It is believed this Lost was the creator, or at least a protector, of forests. However, it fell from grace because it felt the lush areas under its influence would come to ruin because of magic, so it rejected the change. Ultimately, it was sealed away by a fellow Primordial of nature after accepting punishment for its opposition.

There are no known demons under this Lost.

Demonology - Followers of the Lost Empty Re: Demonology - Followers of the Lost

Naturally, this is a WIP. I wish to draft it to see how acceptable it is for the current theme. Feedback would be appreciated.

Krahylklir the Lost of Sacrifice/Solitude

Krahylklir, during its time as an Ancient, was a renowned philosopher. As its seemingly endless existence endured, its ideals became bleaker and above all self-reliant. It cited that there was a deep spiritual power gained from not only depending on none else, but from sacrificing one's bonds and the very things one depends on - driving oneself into total isolation. Followers of Krahylklir grew in power with each bond cut off, with each forward step into complete independence and utter solitude.

Krahylklir's fate is entirely unknown.

Followers of Krahylklir are far between, for obvious reasons - although not necessarily few. Those who worship it do so of their own accord, and in turn they come to resemble their master greatly. Krahylklir's demons, physically, appear as empty humanoid husks with crooked and shrivelled figures; barren, bony wings and sharp talon-esque features in seemingly impractical locations. They are often covered in blood for its symbolism of loss, and furthermore the power gained through it.

This looks good to me so far, from both of you. They fit quite well into the setting and gave me some great ideas to follow up on. I'm going to see what Lost and fitting demons I can cook up myself (the Lost of Stale Cheese comes to mind; its demons throw old cheese at their enemies, a most horrible way to die. Tune in next time for something serious.)
